Every year, Earth Day is celebrated on April 22.
The City of Burlington’s sustainability and forestry staff along with Burlington Hydro, Burlington Green and Plug’n Drive hosted the Action on Climate Earth Day event in the Central Arena parking lot. Thank you to the organizations who helped us make this a successful event and to the amazing volunteers recruited by BurlingtonGreen.

There was so much interest in the free electric vehicle test drives by Plug’n Drive that they are now fully booked until May 20, when the MEET trailer leaves Burlington. While you likely can’t get a test drive, you can still speak with the Plug’n Drive team during their scheduled hours on Thursdays from 10 am to 7 pm and Fridays to Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm. They can answer all your questions about electric vehicles and charging stations in a relaxing environment.

The City also gave away 195 trees at the event. Those who wanted trees had to preregister. Some lucky residents who heard about the event managed to get a tree at the end of the day as there were some unclaimed trees. Any remaining trees will be planted on April 30 at the Green Up Tree Planting Event at Millcroft Park.

BurlingtonGreen handed out clean up supplies to promote their annual Clean Up Event and free seed packs. They also spoke with residents about their upcoming events including the Green Up Tree Planting Event with the City of Burlington and their Zero Waste Drive-Thru (10 am to 4 pm) and Repair Café (10 am to 2 pm) at Burlington Centre, 777 Guelph Line on Sat. May 14.

Thank you again to all the volunteers who contributed to the successful event and to residents who came to learn more about our work to reduce our impact on our environment.

Take Action Burlington! Collectively we can make a difference.
