Welcome to the Take Action Burlington blog!
The concept of Take Action Burlington began when city staff and community members were planning the city’s Community Climate Change Summit that took place in May 2010.
It was important to the organizing committee that a free follow-up community event also take place. Due to a successful fundraising initiative, we hosted two free community events on World Environment Day in June 2010 and 2011; and also helped support BurlingtonGreen’s GO Green project, an outreach program connecting Burlington children aged 4-11 and inspiring them to take action to combat climate change locally.
The underlying theme at the Climate Change Summit was that we all have a role to play when it comes to creating a healthy, environmentally friendly community. This premise has continued to the present day where we not only showcase the city’s environmental accomplishments but also promote what individuals can do at home, work and play.
