Did you know that 26% of Burlington’s local emissions are from residential homes and that by retrofitting your home, you could reduce your household carbon footprint by 25-50%? In 2019, Burlington City Council declared a climate emergency and in 2020, approved the Climate Action Plan.
Deep energy retrofits of existing buildings is one of the program areas in the Climate Action Plan. In response to this, the City has partnered with the Centre for Climate Change Management at Mohawk College to develop a home energy efficiency retrofit (HERO) program. This program is intended to help homeowners reduce energy consumption and improve home comfort, with the added benefit of reducing their carbon footprint.
Before the HERO program is launched, the City of Burlington is seeking feedback about the program from Burlington residents. Please take a short survey by Nov. 8 to share how we can support you in reducing your household emissions.
For more information and to take the survey, visit getinvolvedburlington.ca/climate-action-plan.
Take Action Burlington! Get motivated and empowered to take action on climate change by improving the energy efficiency of your home. Collectively we can make a difference.
Thanks for your committed work. We are moving but I have forwarded this message to the new owners. Best, Margaret Small
