Green Space: Newcomer Youth Climate Forum Summer Sessions

Are you a newcomer youth between the ages of 15 and 29? Would you like to learn more about climate change, gain practical skills to take action in your community, and make new friends? If so, you might be interested in Conservation Halton’s Green Space: Newcomer Youth Climate Forum  launched in partnership with RBC Tech for Nature.

What is the Green Space Program about?

The Green Space program allows you to gain hands-on experience and the knowledge and skills needed to take on leadership roles in local climate action initiatives. You will:

  • Learn about climate science, the current climate crisis, and its local and global impact
  • Learn how to use technology to collect and interpret environmental data
  • Participate in nature-based climate solutions (e.g., tree planting, invasive species removal, native seed collection)
  • Learn about native Ontario plants and animals through outdoor learning
  • Learn about government policies, laws, and initiatives related to climate action, adaptation, and mitigation
  • Explore career paths related to climate science and environmental monitoring
  • Carry out a climate-communications capstone project to lead local change
  • Explore a few of Conservation Halton’s different parks and what they have to offer

Green Space Summer Series – NEW!

While the Green Space program typically runs during the school year with monthly workshops, for the first time, a Green Space Summer Series is being offered!

The summer series will run all week from August 14-18 and 21-25. Choose the week that works best for you!
