Be a part of this city-wide initiative to help keep Burlington clean, green and beautiful. Organizing a safe, fun and rewarding litter clean up is a terrific way to enjoy the outdoors while helping the planet locally. Gather your family, friends, community group, coworkers and classroom, and help remove litter from our parks, creeks, school yards, neighbourhoods and more. Clean-up supplies can be requested in the registration form.

UNSMOKE Butt Blitz

Cigarette butts are a common type of litter that pose serious environmental impacts. Image courtesy of BurlingtonGreen.

This April, A Greener Future is challenging communities across Canada to help them collect one million cigarette butts during the 2026 UNSMOKE Butt Blitz. Why? Because that’s how many recycled cigarette butts it takes to build a real park bench through TerraCycle. By joining this clean up you’re not just removing toxic litter from the environment; you’re helping turn pollution into something lasting, useful, and public. Every butt collected at this event counts toward A Greener Future’s national goal!

Honour Earth Day and give old small appliances a new lease on life. Before you toss it, try fixing it! Bring small household appliances (toasters, coffee makers, hair dryers) or mechanical items like clocks, lamps, and fans to the Repair Café.

Skilled Burlington Repair Café volunteers will troubleshoot and fix your item while you watch and lend a hand. It’s a relaxed, hands-on way to learn new skills and keep everyday items in use rather than in a landfill. Presented in partnership with Burlington Repair Café.
