We Need Your Input on the Community Trails Strategy

There’s something satisfying about using a trail either for fun or for travelling around. Maybe it’s the freedom you feel like when you were a kid or maybe it’s the feeling like you’re cheating traffic. Either way, our community trails are a great feature.

What is the Community Trails Strategy?

The Community Trails Strategy is a City-wide initiative to enhance and expand the planning, design and implementation of Burlington’s trail network, building upon the foundation set by the 2015 Trails Strategy.

Why are we doing this?

The goal is to create a comprehensive plan to enhance the City’s existing trails and future trail network to align with the city’s evolving needs. The project will update the vision, priorities, and framework for trail development, ensuring an actionable and adaptable approach to future growth.

This first round of engagement is designed to gather broad input from residents, capturing their experiences, preferences, and priorities related to trails in Burlington. The first survey is focused on:

  • How trails are currently used
  • What barriers exist
  • What the community envisions for the future

The updated strategy will help to establish a trail system that reflects modern needs, best practices, and community values while also setting the City up for future planning.
