Growing Native Plants from Seed: Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024
Learn how to collect seeds effectively and ethically and how to prepare your seeds to sprout for the next growing season. Sean Fox, Botanist and Seed Specialist from Verbinnen’s Nursery will share his experiences with native plants from across our watershed.
Improving the Health of Trees and Shrubs: Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024
Conservation Halton arborist, Jeff Dickie will discuss how you can choose the right trees for the conditions of your yard, how to effectively mulch and prune, and the signs to know if your tree is in trouble. Learn about environmental stresses, emerging forest pests and diseases, and how to protect your trees for the future.
Sustainable Winter Practices: Managing a Salty Situation: Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024
Protect your property and the environment this winter as you dive into the environmental impact of salt use with experts Lorna Murison from Credit Valley Conservation and Pamela Strong from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority. Learn responsible salting techniques, explore alternatives, and discover salt-tolerant native plants for your home garden.
