Test drive an EV and learn about air source heat pumps on Oct. 1

Poster promoting Oct. 1 event to test drive EVs and green your home

Our climate is changing. We are experiencing warmer, wetter, and wilder weather.

On Oct. 1, you can learn how to take some steps to reduce your impact on our climate and environment.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Road Show

If your current gas or diesel vehicle needs to be replaced, consider an EV. You will reduce your emissions significantly while saving on costs associated with maintenance and ‘refuelling’ (charging).

Plug’n Drive, a non-profit organization, will be present with EVs for you to test drive and answer your questions in a stress-free environment. EV ambassadors (residents who own EVs) will also be present to showcase their vehicles and speak about their personal experience.

Green Your Home

Another way to reduce emissions is at home. Learn more about the new Better Homes Burlington pilot program offering up to $10,000 in interest-free loans to install an electric air-source heat pump. Check out an air-source heat pump and find out what incentive programs are currently available to reduce home emissions.

E-Bike Raffle

Consider getting around the city by bike using your own power or get an extra boost with an electric bike (e-bike). Two bikes are being raffled; one pedal-powered and one e-bike. Tickets will be sold at the Oct. 1 event with the draw taking place on Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. Proceeds from the raffle support BurlingtonGreen.

Connection to Burlington’s climate plans

Two of the program areas under Burlington’s Climate Action Plan deal with electric mobility and reducing emissions from existing buildings. Implementing such actions will help the community move towards being a net carbon neutral community by 2050.

Take Action Burlington! Collectively we can make a difference and work towards becoming a net carbon neutral community by 2050.
